DREADFUL LOVER

“Burn it! Burn it!”

“You evil witch, burn it!”

“Burn it to the ground! It will bring destruction upon us!”

A loud noise and bright light in the middle of the village woke up the tall figure. When we went outside to look, we found many villagers gathered in the open area. The large wooden pillar that had been empty during the day now had a woman's body tied tightly to it. A large pile of firewood was placed around a wooden pole.

He walked into the crowd standing on a wooden pole cursing the evil witch. Everyone's faces and voices were filled with hatred. Very different from during the day. The villagers used to seem friendly. The cheerful smile that greeted him changed as if he had been possessed.

“Let go of my mother! My mother didn't do anything wrong."

“Doyoung!” A woman's hoarse voice sounded. Weary eyes stared at the boy who had rushed through the middle of the circle. The villagers in front of the firewood piled their hands on the hillside. The man holding the torch turned and spoke to the boy. Judging from his attire, it was assumed that he was the leader of this village.

“Your mother is a witch. She is evil and will bring disaster to this village.”

“My mother is not a witch. What did you say?”

“I saw it during the day. That your mother went to pet the deer that I had hunted and it revived. Today she revived a deer, and tomorrow she won't awaken ghosts to kill us?” The villagers who heard this shouted in fear. The evil witch's curse sounded again. They believed every word the man said because fear of the witch had possessed them to do evil to the accused.

"Burn her! Before she kills us,” the villagers shouted for the life of the woman on the wooden pole. The village leader raised his torch high, showing his power over the evil witch right now. The shouts grew louder and louder, as did the screams of a mother and daughter as the flames spread across the woodpile. Tears streaming down his cheeks, the boy collapsed in front of the fire.

No... Mother... My mother.

“Burn her daughter as well. She must be a witch like her mother.” A villager shouted out an order for the only son of the woman accused of being a witch to be burned as well. Everyone approved of that man. They came and surrounded the boy.

This was too cruel and the child was not involved in the slightest. The young man hurried to intervene but was unable to fight the strength of the crazy villagers. “Stop! This child is not involved!”

“Don't hurt my child!” The sound that came out was like a scream. She was hurt both by the flames and by the villagers' madness that would harm even an innocent boy. Two figures of mother and child were surrounded by flames.

The tall figure tried to escape from his grasp in order to help the figure. But the more force he exerted, the more he was pulled back into the crowd. He could only shout and warn those people.

"no! Doyoung! Let him down, he's not a witch. I told you to release him!”

"no !"

The tall figure was startled, sweat all over his body. Breathing heavily The nightmare was too real, too similar to the events of that day. It scared him even though it wasn't.

"Jay..." A loud voice sounded beside him and a soft body rubbed his back to comfort him. No matter how real the nightmare was, Doyoung's truth was still on his side.

"Did you have another nightmare, Jay?"

"Yes, I dreamed that I... couldn't save you." Jay touched the face of the person next to him. Look deeply into his eyes and let his brain remember that Doyoung is still here, not burned alive like in his dreams.

“Hug me so you know I'm still with you.” Doyoung took the tall man's hand and embraced himself and led him to sleep. He buried his face in his lover's chest.

Jay stroked the soft hair and stared at the thin figure in his embrace as if he was afraid he would disappear. He didn't know why, but he had had this dream many nights since the events of that day. Dreams are never the same, some nights it's him who gets burned. Could it be a feeling of guilt deep in his heart that he didn't save Doyoung's mother?

Because he, like those crazy villagers, thought that Doyoung's mother was a witch. But Jay was sure that Doyoung was not a witch as he had been accused of, so he claimed reason and raised his own family power to threaten.

Jay's family has been governors for many generations. The power and fear was overwhelming enough for those people to let Doyoung go. After that, they brought Doyoung to a house in another city, just the two of them. The body that had no one left when receiving Jay's help was almost choked with grace. I keep telling you every day that I will repay you with everything I have. Sometimes Jay isn't sure if the love he receives these days is real or just another form of reciprocation.

knock knock

“Doyoung hyung, I'm here.” A regular guest of the house opened the door himself without waiting for the owner of the house. He sat down in his usual seat next to Doyoung.

“No one invited you, Minhyung.”

Jay fired back at the boy like he did every day. Minhyung is the kid next door who often hangs out with his lover every day. I don't know if there's nothing to eat at home or how this irritating child comes around from noon until evening. After finishing work on my own farm, I came to eat at his house. Some nights I was grumpy and asked to sleep with me.

The boy next door turned and barked at the owner of the house before returning his attention to the figure next to him.

“Brother Doyoung, this morning a sheep in my pen gave birth. Do you want to go watch with me?” Minhyung said with his mouth still full of food. Doyoung couldn't help but smile at the way the little boy showed off his toys.

“Okay, if you finish shipping before me today.”

“Of course I will!” After saying that, Minhyung grabbed his bag and ran out of the house.

Minhyung's family is a trader. The child's father often goes out to collect goods from out of town to sell in this community as well as deliver parcels and letters, so he doesn't get to see his father often. Every morning, Minhyung is responsible for delivering letters from house to house with Doyoung as his assistant.

“I'm going to go check on Minhyung.” Someone stood up from his seat. Before he could put away the chair, Jay grabbed his hand. Pulled him in to receive a soft kiss on the lips. No matter what Jay asked for, Doyoung did it without ever refusing and never showing any signs of being shy. It's like I did it because I had to, not out of love.

Doyoung walked away without another word as soon as he pulled away. Leaving the other person to sit and stare at the back until he was out of sight.

Today's weather was not as good as the day before, so fewer people came out than yesterday. But it was still just as chaotic as it was close to the capital, so there were products for sale all over the square. Doyoung greeted everyone with a smile and looked for Minhyung.

Soon it was discovered that a neighbor's child was standing in front of a house looking for something in his large bag. Some people walked closer. Squat down so your face is level.

“Doyoung hyung, I must have forgotten this house's parcel. I'll go take it home first. You are waiting for me here.” No sooner had we met than Minhyung had already run away. Some figures were waiting in the same place as the little boy had said. Meanwhile, he saw the homeowner's chicken walking nearby with its head bobbing. He picked up a grain of rice that had fallen nearby and called for the same chicken to come over.

He blinked and stared at the rice grains in his hand. But after taking only one step, he looked startled and flapped his wings and ran into the coop.

Alarms sounded throughout the area. Doyoung stood still amidst the panicked crowd, hurriedly gathering as much of his things as possible and running into the residence. Every house has tight locks on both the doors and windows. what happened?

“Doyoung! Come with me.” It was Jay who came and grabbed his wrist and made him run after him. The tall figure led Doyoung to avoid the crowd that was bustling around the large square.

He was brought into the house. Jay closed the window and bolted the door with a large piece of wood like the other villagers. A tall figure walked around the inside of the house, making sure that every entrance and exit was completely closed so that no light could penetrate or anything could break it.

Doyoung looked at him with confusion. He wanted to know what happened. Because ever since he came here, he always seemed peaceful. A community near the capital like this shouldn't be dangerous. Wild animals couldn't break in, unlike the village where he lived with his mother.

He reached through the gap in the wood and peeked open the curtains. Looking out the window He saw no one outside in the courtyard, only a pack of wolves. They stood around the unfortunate body covered in blood. The biggest wolf's snout turned towards him. It stared silently through the clear glass.

The wrist was pulled back and Doyoung turned to Jay. But before he could ask anything, a strong hand covered his mouth and dragged him to the middle of the house.

"Don't look outside," the tall man said softly. The noise outside was louder than his own voice. His eyes were filled with fear.

“Jay, what happened?”

“Wolves… they came here.”

“How is it going?”

"I don't know, I don't know," the tall man replied, his voice shaking. Jay's expression was the same as every night he woke up from a nightmare. But right now he wasn't dreaming. It's really happening.

A thin hand held the figure in front of him. Gently stroking the back of his hand to comfort him, even though he himself was just as scared. The image of that wolf staring back was still stuck in my head.

Jay changed position so that the pair of hands moved to cover his ears instead. He covered Doyoung's ears as well, blocking out screams from the brutality outside. The two looked deep into their eyes. Until the kindness of dawn returns to us again.

The mist clouds moved, allowing light to shine down sparingly. It wasn't very bright, but one could still see the abomination of last night's beast. The square in the middle of the village was tainted with the blood of the victims. Everyone had different expressions of fear on their faces when they opened the door from the house.

Jay hugged his lover to his chest to take his eyes off the cruelty around him. Even though the eyes cannot see, the ears can still hear. The sound of cries and mourning for the departed could be heard throughout the area.

“Minhyung! My child!”

They both turned towards the voice when a familiar name was spoken. It's Minhyung's father who just returned from overseas. He dropped all his belongings and rushed over to hug his child's lifeless body.

Doyoung looked at that picture with an overwhelming feeling that he could hardly walk. Yesterday he was the last person with Minhyung and when the alarm went off he ran away without worrying about him. Because of shock and fear and thinking that Minhyung was still in the house, he didn't go to check to be sure. It was him who left Minhyung outside to face the cruelty all alone.

Some of them pushed themselves out of the embrace. Walking closer to the father and son with eyes blurred with tears He sank down and held the child's blood-soaked hand in his. Ready to gently spread the hair that falls on your face.

Doyoung looked at Minhyung's face one last time, engraved in his memory before closing his eyes to sleep soundly, his mouth continuously murmuring words of apology.

"heavily!"

Minhyung's pale body flinched and he gasped violently. The skin begins to change color and blood flows throughout the body. The father, both happy and shocked, rubbed his child's face with a smile.

People stared at Doyoung with wide eyes. The same stare he had received that day.

The day Doyoung's mother was captured and burned alive...

"witch"

A whisper sounded. The crowd came closer and surrounded some of the figures. Doyoung couldn't control his breathing. He looked around, not understanding what was going on, not knowing how he could do that. How could he be a witch? He never even knew.

“Burn it! Burn it!”

“Evil witch, burn it!”

“Burn it to the ground! It brings destruction upon us!”

The same sentence that I had heard that day could not stop ringing around me. Doyoung allowed his body to be carried along the road, not resisting until he felt the large rope tying him to a pole in the middle of the village. There were only tears on his face in response to those curses and hateful glances.

“Burn it! It killed us.”

I didn't do it. Those wolves weren't mine. He wanted to shout out like that but was too weak to say anything. He knew that no one would listen to him and he would only be burned.

"no! Doyoung! Let him down, he's not a witch. I told you to release him!”

"no !"

A tall figure shouted loudly. The rampage was so severe that people in the area had to be locked up. Doyoung shook his head and gave him a small smile. Tell yourself it's okay. He gave in. Since there was no one left, it was okay for another person to die.

"It's hiding a witch. Burn it!"

“Burn it!”

The delirium of the villagers became more and more intense. Jay's body was propped up against a nearby pillar. Then he tied it with the same rope so tightly that no matter how much he tried, there was no way it would come out, only adding to his own wounds.

“Let him go, I beg you,” Doyoung pleaded. No one felt any sympathy anymore, only cruelty. Fear anything and destroy it. When they were afraid of the witch, they burned it and everything related to it to the ground.

"do not! Let him go!”

The torch in his hand was lit into the fire below. A death aura spread around the two wooden pillars. The screams were ear-piercing amidst the people's hatred. Now that Doyoung has it, it's no different. He glared back in anger and curses at everyone who had inflicted this suffering on his people. Both mother and Jay

His body was too exhausted to bear it and let the flames continue to consume his body. His eyelids slowly narrowed until he couldn't see anything clearly. But that last picture before everything disappeared was like...

The eyes of that wolf staring at him

All around there was only discomfort. Even though I opened my eyes, I could only see complete darkness. There was no air to breathe and the body struggled until it emerged from the exhaustion.

When he had taken in the air until he was satisfied, he turned to observe his surroundings. Doyoung finds himself buried in a wooden tub filled with mud and strange-looking herbs.

“You recovered three days later than I thought.”

Some people turned towards the owner of the voice. Those eyes made him feel familiar, like he had seen them somewhere before.

He walked closer. Rub off the mud that clings to your face. His fingers spread to his lips, never leaving them, and he moved his face closer and closer. “I have been waiting for you for a very long time, Doyoung.”

The closer the faces moved, the more the image in the memory formed from blurred to clear. In contrast to the consciousness that is decreasing all the time. The figure in the wooden tub looked into those eyes as if mesmerized. Those eyes were so familiar that we were sure they had met before. No matter how much I think of it, I can't think of it.

Eyes that conceal passion and mischief subtly. And so full of charm that it's hard to resist kissing--

“Oh, me,” he said helplessly. When he regained consciousness he found that his face was so close to the stranger that their lips were already pressed together.

He let out a soft laugh in his throat. before saying a sentence with a slight smile “You are still not strong. Please rest.” He pulled away and picked up a pile of cloths on a nearby table. “But I'm guessing you don't want to be stuck in this mud all day.”

A white cloth, as clean as the color of the man's hair, was held in front of him with the same smile as before. Doyoung didn't receive it, but it was the man's wrist. “I thank you very much. What is your name?"

"Taeyong, my name is Taeyong."

"And Jay-"

“Another man who was cremated with me. Where is he?”

“I want to meet him…”

“Follow me,” he said without leaving a smile on his face.

Doyoung immediately rushed over and hugged the other person's body. Rub the mud that stains your face off. He smiles through tears to find that Jay is still there. The tall figure in the mud bath was completely still, his chest strong and not heaving to catch the air he breathed. The skin was worrisomely pale even though there were no traces left from the fire.

“When will he recover?” Doyoung turned to Taeyong and asked expectantly. Jaehyun was just a normal human being and it would take him a long time to come back to life.

“He won't wake up, Doyoung,” the owner of the silver fruit answered after several seconds of silence. An answer that made the smile on her sweet face fade away, leaving only tears streaming down her cheeks.

“That's not true. You need to recover. You must revive Jay!”

A small hand rubbed the tall man's eyelids over and over again, doing the same as before with Minhyung, and the boy revived. But it seems like the results are not what was hoped for. Nothing happened at all. His tall figure remained motionless. No breath coming in and out through the nose.

“Why… have I ever been resurrected? Why…”

“Doyoung, you were burned once. Just because I helped you revive doesn't mean your power will remain.”

“What must I do?”

Taeyong didn't answer any more. He just stood and looked at the body that was collapsing and crying, holding Jay's body close to his chest. He sobbed as if he was going to die with the body in his embrace until he lost consciousness. He gritted his teeth, suppressing the emotion inside. Leaving Doyoung with his lifeless body and leaving.

'Doyoung... I've been waiting for you for so long.'

“Who?”

Some people turned around to search for the source of the sound but found only emptiness. Nothing but darkness The air has become less and less. He took a hard breath. My heart beats faster and faster as I feel danger.

'I'm so glad you're here at my side.'

“Where are you?”

'Turn around, Doyoung, I'm here'

A cold, heavy touch on the shoulder made some of them turn to look. He found Jay standing there. A wide smile spread across his sweet face with happiness.

“Jay, is it you?”

Doyoung reached out and touched the person in front of him. I want to be sure that this is the truth that Jay has recovered. But before the fingertips touched his skin, Jay's entire body was violently torn.

“Jay!”

He couldn't see Jay anymore. In front of him was a large silver-furred wolf that was viciously biting at the body. He didn't care about anything and could only think of having to help the other person, but he couldn't move. It was as if the whole body was pinned down by something invisible. The only thing it did was scream at the top of his lungs. At least draw it's attention to him instead.

Grrr

It changed its target to Doyoung. Step closer slowly and gracefully. His familiar yellow eyes stared at him with a different look from just a moment ago, looking softer.

'No one can take you away from me again'

Doyoung remembers eyes like this well. The same eyes as the wolf that attacked the village and took Minhyung's life that time. Both fear and anger erupted throughout his body.

It steps closer. Pounced on Doyoung until he lost his footing and fell. Someone mustered up the courage to stare back at the wolf that was straddling him without giving up, even though his whole body was trembling with fear.

The silver mane trembled and slowly flew away. The true form of the dire wolf was revealed, which looked even more familiar than its eyes.

'What's wrong with you, Doyoung?'

“What is wrong with you, Doyoung?”

Some of them were shocked and heaved a huge sigh of relief and returned to their own bodies. When he looked carefully at the picture in front of him, he saw that it was Taeyong. The man who saved him and Jay from the witch hunt.

“I had a nightmare,” Doyoung replied while still staring into another person's eyes that were very much like a dream.

“Then I will bring some frankincense. In case you feel more relaxed.” Taeyong gently stroked the soft hair with a slight smile before walking out of the room to bring the other person frankincense as instructed.

Doyoung followed the other figure until Taeyong left the room and began to notice his surroundings. He was no longer next to the mud bath in which Jay's body was soaked. Taeyong probably brought him here to sleep after he cried himself to sleep. The utensils were beautifully carved wood and shiny silverware, as was the color of the owner's hair.

The sound of the door opening and the figure of the owner of the house appeared. “I'll put it here,” Taeyong said with a gentle smile. Placing the lighted incense beside the bed, he leaned forward and sat on the bed next to Doyoung.

He stroked my soft hair again. "This time you'll sleep better, ah!"

Pain shot through the middle of his chest. The silver candlestick was violently stabbed in. Blood seeped out through the fabric until it was red.

“I know you are that wolf! What do you want?!”

“Ak Do- Doyoung.”

“You go to the village. Hurt Minhyung..."

Doyoung backed up until he was close to the wooden table. A thin hand swept across the table in a directional manner. Just give me anything that's made of silver and can take the life of the beast in front of you. He clutched it with trembling hands. His eyes flashed with fear and he stared at Taeyong without batting an eye. Even if the body of the werewolf who had killed his loved one collapsed next to the bed in a pool of thick blood.

“Is this all your plan? Do you want to reveal that I am a witch?”

"I did it for you! You shouldn't be with those disgusting humans!”

"Humans are not disgusting!"

"Don't you remember the look in their eyes when they found out you were a witch..."

Images from that day flashed back into my head. A large rope held the body to a wooden post. Pile of firewood piled at your feet and scorching heat throughout the body It all happened with the sound of curses and the looks of hatred on the inhumans like him.

The hand that held the weapon loosened.

“But Jay…” Doyoung gripped it tighter again. "Jay had to die because of your plan..."

“Why do you always have to mention it?!” Taeyong's shouted voice made some of you flinch. Even though he should have weakened, his strength was in stark contrast to the wounds he saw.

"You're a tough guy, my Doyoung." Taeyong's smile was unlike the first time. There is only fear and cruelty. Just like his eyes could no longer hide his true identity.

“Why?” The figure tried to get as far away from Taeyong as he could as the figure came closer. The back plate is attached closely to the wooden wall... He had no escape.

Grung

The silver candlestick that had been planted in his chest fell to his side. After inspecting the wound, he returned his attention to the figure that was trembling.

"I'm sorry, Doyoung, that I had to tell you that silverware can't kill me."

"Because I'm a demon, not a werewolf."

Hands caress the frame of Doyoung's face. Staring at the little rabbit like a wolf that would soon devour its prey.

I'm shocked.

The mirror inserted into his heart didn't make the other person tremble one bit. He just looked down with a smile that concealed anger. Unlike the brave rabbit who thought about killing the wolf, who was now trembling with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Do you really want me to die?!" I told you, these things can't do anything to me!”

Doyoung's body flew and hit the wall of the room hard before falling onto the wide bed. My whole body hurt so much that I didn't dare move. He only knew that the devil had crawled closer. Along with the tall figure's blood stains that flowed in ancient letters around him.

"What are you going to do!"

“You really want him to recover, don't you, Doyoung!”

“Did you know that a witch is a human who receives the power of a demon?” he whispered hoarsely into your ear, licking it slowly as if tasting delicious prey. “I have made you an offer, Doyoung.”

His fingertips wiped away the tears, making his body feel soft. Doyoung doesn't struggle anymore. He had already seen that no matter what, he could not escape this fate. Even if Taeyong wanted to kill him or swallow his soul, he would accept it. I just want one thing. Just bring Jay back to life again.

The first sensation that he felt after regaining consciousness was the fishy smell that hung around his body. When he opened his eyes, he realized that it was dried blood stains following him and Taeyong.

Pushing the other body that was hugging me away. But the difficult thing would be the connecting part. Doyoung gritted his teeth and pulled the other's body away from himself in disgust. Tears welled up again, even though I cried until my eyes were swollen the night before.

The seals on Doyoung and Taeyong's left breasts confirmed the story from last night. The covenant that binds them together A pact between a witch and a demon that exchanges the power of resurrection for the sweet taste of Doyoung's body.

A body as beautiful as an angel from heaven It is actually a demon from hell. Set clever traps to lure the little rabbits to you. Then they slaughtered and ate them in a barbaric way.

Taeyong was still asleep. Little did he know that another person had already stepped out of the room.

Doyoung grabbed the covers and walked towards the room where Jay's lifeless body was. Each step was difficult. No matter how much pain my whole body aches, I don't care. I just want to prove the devil's words.

Jay must recover.

Some bodies collapsed next to the wooden tub. Pull the body beneath the mud to emerge. Rub the mud off your face and hold it in place. Big, round eyes stared with hope.

"Jay, can you hear me?"

"Open your eyes, Jay."

"Recover..." he said in a weak voice. In addition to the lack of reaction from Jay, his entire body was limp. Pale and cold Just that, my eyes were hot even though I had shed so many tears that there were none to flow. Resting on the other's shoulder, waiting to hear the sound of a thud showing signs of life.

It's like a withered heart comes back and injects hope into the body. When Jay's trembling fingers gently touched his tear-stained cheek, A wide smile easily appeared on his face because of that action.

"Don't leave me again, Jay. I don't want to lose anyone again." Doyoung hugged Jay tightly. Warm bodies complement each other well. I can't deny how good I feel right now.

But just now

It is possible that if Doyoung knew just a little bit about what the future would hold. He definitely didn't want Jay to wake up.
