Short fiction episode : Puppy

Po Pae Pa Pae

The rain drops hit the umbrella in my hand until I heard a continuous popping sound.

Even though I intended to just sit and play the game in a comfortable room, Sam Bo Ba didn't seem to understand me at all. Normally it's already sluggish, especially with the rain raging like this.

I was so annoyed that I was hungry so I decided to go down to get something to eat at the 7-Eleven next to the dormitory. But my eyes stumbled upon a tall, familiar figure that was opening a hole in the grass looking for something. Its condition was like a puppy falling into the water because it was completely soaked. So I walked straight towards him. Maybe it was because he felt that there were not even a single drop of rain falling on him that he raised his head to look at the sky.

But I'm sorry I only saw my umbrella.

"James, what are you doing?" I asked the tall figure who was now staring at me with wide eyes.

"It's a puppy. It's just been born. I feel sorry for it, it got cold in the rain." He replied as he gently picked up the puppy from the grass. The puppy was clearly trembling from the cold.

“What about his mother?” I asked, the hand holding the umbrella reaching out towards James. This is what I do for the puppy.

He shook his head in response.

"Anyway, let's get him into the dorm before he freezes to death."

"I have a handkerchief. Let's use it instead of a towel." I spread out the handkerchief and put it in my hand. James gently placed the puppy in my hand. Then he changed to holding the umbrella instead of me. I wrapped the little puppy in my handkerchief as gently as possible.

"The dormitory doesn't..."

Woof woof woof!

I haven't finished speaking yet. A dog ran towards us, barking like crazy. This dog might be the mother of the puppies I am carrying.

"Tae! Slowly put the puppy down!” I did as James ordered and slowly put the puppy down.

Woof woof! Ha! That dog continued to bark and hiss at us without ceasing.

When I finished putting the puppy down in its original place. So I hurriedly stood up to my full height.

Woof woof!

The dog made a move to pounce on me. And at that moment, James pulled me towards him, causing my head to crash hard into his strong chest. I looked up at James and it turned out that James was looking down at me as well. We both stared at each other for a long time. It's like the whole world stops spinning. The surroundings were quiet and even the dog's voice had disappeared.

"Ah...uh, it's gone." James' voice fell and I immediately pulled away from James.

"Ah...um." I looked at the grass hole where I had placed the puppy. It turned out that it had disappeared. His mother probably carried him somewhere else.

"Well...Then I'll go up to the dorm first." After saying that, I bent down and picked up the umbrella that was lying beside James. It might have slipped out of James' hands because of the previous incident.

"Um," he said softly.

I immediately turned around and prepared to enter the dormitory.

Sigh~ I'm soaked. If I go up to the room, I'll have to shower and dress again. Just thinking about it gives me chills.

After I finished showering and getting dressed, I laid down and pressed my mobile phone on the bed comfortably.

I hit the post button on Twitter and soon there were tons of comments pouring in.

I read the comments and unconsciously let out a smile.

I turned off my phone and put it on the bedside table. I closed my eyes slowly and thought of a person's face. Someone's face, no matter how many times you look at it, your heart will flutter...
