There was no startled cry. There was only a chubby figure that bounced to the other side of the sofa and a face that looked extremely frightened. The tablet that had been on the table earlier fell to the floor as the headphone cable connected to the owner's ear was pulled because of the shock. One small hand gripped the handle of a porcelain glass with a small teaspoon inside that was the source of the mysterious sound that had called Daniel to come in, preparing to throw it at whatever came in without making a sound. It was fortunate that there was no liquid left in the glass or else I would have expected to have more work to do cleaning the sofa before bed.

That kind of gesture made the teaser burst out laughing. before changing to pulling another person into a hug instead because the person being teased seemed to be more shocked than expected

“Oh, I'm sorry.” The older man's hand pressed the younger's head down against his own broad shoulder before gently rocking her back and forth to comfort him.
