Stories from great-grandfathers
I am a child from the back of the village...every holiday, I come to sit at my great-grandfather's house, which has a fence next to each other, and of course when I come to see him, in addition to missing him, I like listening to my great-grandfather telling stories from the past. I still envy my grandmother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived in that era. He must have been very happy, but it's a pity that he is no longer here.
It makes me think of the stories my great-grandfather told me. I asked about the old stories from those days. When he could still remember….Grandfather sat and told stories while pounding betel nuts with his hands. In his mouth, he chewed betel nuts, alternating with spitting red betel nut juice and throwing it in the old chamber pot. My great-grandfather was born during the reign of King Rama V. Every time I listen to my great-grandfather tell a story, I imagine what he said.
I still remember when he said that in those days he still wore a crimson stingray leash and a brown long-sleeved shirt and also told about the time when my great-grandfather went to flirt with my new great-grandmother. He said that he met my great-grandmother at the temple where she lived. Each village Now is Loy Krathong Day, which the temple has organized according to tradition. When my great-grandfather first went to flirt with my great-grandmother, she said that she wanted to be left too much to be addicted.
He said that until we meet again, we have to wait for another event or festival. for which great-grandfather waited for a very long time But he said that it was more like a time to prove true love because if we truly love each other, this time is all we have to wait for. He also said that these days are much better than in the past. Because nowadays there is good technology and people today are very different from people in the past…
In the past, great-grandfather said that when communicating with each other, they had to write letters to each other and before the letter was sent, they had to wait for him to reply, which took several weeks as well.. He also said that in the past Thai people are more considerate than this. Nearby people, when they have something or cook food, they share a little bit between each other, which is different from people nowadays where everyone lives in different places.
Personally, I really like these stories. And besides, I'm a person who likes to watch TV. I watched a drama about the lives of people in the old days during the reign of King Rama V. I don't know why I liked it. One thing I like is old songs. With images of men and women dancing together, it shows the life of the people at that time. Great-grandfather once told me that
What time in the past do we like the most? It shows that we were born in that era and were happy. I saw that it was as true as the words my great-grandfather had told me. To this day, I still think of him and remember the smile on his face when he shared memories of the past. It makes you know that people in that era were the happiest. But even though it's just the past, it's also the past that holds the most impressive and most memorable memories...
*** And the reader? Do you have any good memories from the past?***
