- This fic is just the imagination of the author. There was no other intention. Apart from enjoyment -
The cold weather signals the beginning of another year soon. The colorful and unusual decorations throughout the city can only be seen during the Christmas and New Year festivals. The surrounding atmosphere is cheerful. This created excitement for the young boy who was walking past the many shops.
Before he hurries to walk into the supermarket located in the heart of the city, the spaciousness and variety of products sold in various zones can make consumers enjoy walking and shopping very much.
A skinny young man was one of them. It seemed like shopping wasn't easy at all because he was standing looking at the shelves with a stressed expression. He couldn't decide which ingredients to choose to prepare the food for dinner. He didn't know. Is it because of the hunger that has accumulated since the morning that many food menus keep popping into my mind when walking in the fresh food zone from where I planned to just boil ramyeon with real eggs? Instead, I picked up a lot and realized that there wasn't only a pack of ramyeon and half a carton of eggs in the basket when I stood in front of the cashier.
Coming out of the supermarket and about to walk past a coffee shop that he often sat in, the young man without hesitation walked in, despite being disheveled because of the supermarket bags.
I feel good every time I smell coffee.
“One Americano.”
"Oh! Today is strange, Daehwi.” The young barista is quite surprised by the coffee menu ordered by a regular customer like Daehwi. Every time he stops by, he usually orders a milk drink to go with a croissant. Have you ever ordered a coffee drink?
“It's not strange, Seongwoo hyung.”
“It's bitter,” Sungwoo asked again, just to be sure.
“Yes, one Americano.” Daehwi repeated the drink menu he ordered before handing over the payment card. “I'm already studying at university. So I wanted to try the coffee flavor that adults like to drink.”
Sungwoo smiled at Daehwi's answer before greeting him again as Daehwi walked to sit at the table near the cashier.
“I bought a lot of things. Why don't you go anywhere during the holidays?”
"oh! No, but I just had a bit of fun." Daehwi sat down and looked at the bag that was placed on the table. Because cooking isn't something he's good at, he couldn't imagine what the food would look like.
Can I eat it?
“There you have it, Americano.” Sungwoo handed Daehwi a cardboard box with a handle containing a drink glass. Because there were two cups, Daehwi looked at Sungwoo suspiciously, just as Sungwoo was opening his mouth to explain the cocoa cup Daehwi received.
“And this.. I'm afraid we won't be able to eat it. It's not considered a small amount. Seminar for regular customers."
“Oh, thank you. I hope it sells like crazy.” Daehwi accepted the glass bag and gave him a bright smile, and Sungwoo couldn't help but smile as well.
“Haha, thank you,” Sungwoo said before trailing off when someone walked back to the counter after serving drinks to customers on the second floor of the restaurant.
"And.. if it doesn't taste good, blame Daniel. He was the one who made this glass."
“Oh, what are you saying?” Daniel, who was organizing shelves nearby, said when the responsibility was thrown at him.
Before the two could argue, a customer came into the shop and came straight to order coffee. Daehwi, who was standing there, walked back and took the things that had been placed on the table in the first place and approached the counter. again
"Uh.. then I'll excuse myself first."
Seongwoo, who was taking orders from customers, looked up and waved at him, while Daniel, who was doing his duty, turned around and smiled and waved at Daehwi as well.
- NOTHING WITHOUT YOU -
After arranging the purchases and putting them away, Daehwi proceeded to search through the items that he would be indispensable for the next festival. It was a Christmas tree. The boy carried a large cardboard box out to the living room corner of the room where Daehwi and Jinyoung lived. his close friend But today the room was quieter than usual because Jinyoung had gone home this morning.
It would be great if someone could help deal with this thing.
Finishing with the Christmas tree that was slightly taller than him, it was time for Daehwi to decorate the tree. The boy rushed to the bedroom. before returning with his notebook to turn on music to create an atmosphere and break the silence that he didn't like very much.
The enjoyment of decorating the dark green fake tree was interrupted by a ringing sound from Daehwi's phone.
“Yes, Minhyun hyung…” Daehwi answered on the other end of the line before walking off to turn off the music.
“Yes, I intend to go in today in the afternoon.” Daehwi sat down before turning to look at the clock hanging on the wall of the room.
"Oh, not at all. I can go in the evening."
“Yes, it's okay. Yes” when pressing to hang up. Daehwi suddenly turned to the Christmas tree that had been decorated before leaning back on the sofa, exhausted.
“There's no need to hurry, there's still plenty of time.”
Daehwi held his hand on his stomach as he made noises when he returned to the room. There was only the bitter taste of cocoa and Americano in his stomach, the excitement of decorating the tree. It made him so entertained that he didn't feel hungry even though several hours ago he was so hungry he was dizzy and put things in the basket until it overflowed.
The young man walked to the kitchen again, opened the refrigerator, and put all the things he had just bought on the counter.
“Alright,” Daehwi said as a signal to himself and started to prepare the food he planned to cook out of hunger.
More than an hour passed by creating the food I tried for the first time, including kimchi curry. Pajeon and spicy chicken Daehwi doesn't know if he'll be able to eat all of this food or not. The worst would probably be Bajeon, who uses a lot of heat. This caused one side of the pajeon sheet to burn, but it seems that for this meal, we will have to rely on ramyun again as usual. After taking only a few bites, Daehwi himself was disheartened by the taste that was not to his liking.
It doesn't matter at all.
- NOTHING WITHOUT YOU -
Daehwi walked into the noiseless room with a heavy heart and stood still for several minutes before slowly walking into the chair next to the bed. Even though he had been here many times, it seemed like he was still not used to it. that is seen in front The atmosphere was quiet, with only the sound of medical equipment working. Daehwi stared at someone sleeping on a hospital bed with trembling eyes. Everything that had happened a week ago was difficult. Make up your mind that no one can accept what happened suddenly.
Daehwi's hands looked tiny as he reached out to hold the hand of the person he always missed when they weren't together.
“Dongho hyung..Today I tried making food for myself.. bland kimchi curry Spicy fried chicken that was undercooked and pajeon that was fried until burnt.. I don't care, right? I want to make delicious pajeon like you did..for me Pajeon made by Brother Dongho is the most delicious.. Really.”
The boy pursed his lips because he had to hold back the feelings inside him. He took in a breath and let it out to calm himself down. Daehwi turned his head back to the bed as before.
"I ordered an Americano to try. It wasn't as delicious as you said. I guess I still have to learn about the taste of coffee that adults drink for a while.. I really want to go sit and play with you." Daeha V kept his tone as normal as possible.
“Today is Christmas Eve..I have a lot of work because Jinyoung went home first. No one helped me put together the tree.. I decorated this year's Christmas tree exactly like last year's.. Just like the tree that you and I helped decorate for Christmas last year..."
Daehwi stopped talking. before speaking again, “And.. do you still remember that diary? The book that you found in my drawer was a small diary that almost caused a fight between the two of us. Because I didn't let you look inside..I'm embarrassed."
The boy used his other hand to open his bag and pull out a notebook without releasing his other hand that held the young man's hand.
“I brought it with me…”
Daehwi opened his diary and began reading the contents written inside, page by page. The contents contained the dates from a year ago, from the last semester of high school until he was able to enter university.
Dae-hwi and Dong-ho met at the freshman welcome party. Their help with their studies brought them closer together, causing them to fall in love with each other.
The diary was read page by page until it was recorded a week ago. Daehwi sat silently before realizing because of the clear water that had dripped onto the paper until it had soaked into the entire page. When he realized that he was crying, the boy quickly wiped away the tears. immediately and stuffed the notebook into the bag as before.
“Sorry…” Daehwi finished speaking and took Dongho's hand, gently lifting it to rest on his head and placing both of his own hands on top of it again.
- NOTHING WITHOUT YOU -
Among the people attending the Holy Night ceremony at the Catholic Church, Daehwi walked quietly into the empty space. Enjoy watching various performances until the worship service near midnight.
Life without you is not very happy at all.. Dongho hyung
The young man stopped in front of a restaurant and pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed someone he had made an appointment with.
“Dongho hyung, I've arrived,” Daehwi said when the other person answered the phone.
“Where are you? Why can't I see you?"
Daehwi turned left and right, looked around before he saw someone walking on the other side of the road.
“Um.. I saw you over there.. Walk quickly,” Daehwi said, waving at Dongho who approached where Daehwi was standing.
As he was about to remove the phone from his ear, the young man frowned because the other party wouldn't let him hang up. Dongho, who was standing on the opposite side of the street, smiled at Daehwi when he started to look frantic.
“I'm hungry!”
Dongho, who was still on the line, suddenly said that he forgot to bring his wallet and started walking back in the same direction, causing Daehwi to shout out Dongho's name. before turning to speak into the phone again
“I'll take care of this meal myself.. I've had a lot of babysitters come.. Oh, I made a promise."
Standing there listening to Dongho laugh for almost a minute, Dongho pulled out his wallet and held it up for him to see. It made Daehwi realize that he was being teased by his lover again.
"paternal grandmother! Kang Dong Ho.” Even though he made a fierce sound, the other party didn't show any fear at all. Instead, he laughed with delight until his eyes closed before saying a word that no matter how often he heard it. Daehwi himself could never hold back his smile.
“You can walk across, quickly.” Daehwi's words were finished. The crossing lights suddenly turned green and Dongho walked towards Daehwi on the other side.
The smile on Daehwi's face disappeared as it felt like someone had stabbed hundreds of knives into his heart over and over because of the events he saw before his eyes.
A car traveling at speed crashed into the body of a young man who was crossing the road...
Dae Hwi rushes towards Dong Ho, who is lying unconscious in a pool of blood in the middle of the road, trying to call Dong Ho's name in hopes that he will still be conscious, his hands shaking as his hands are stained with blood from the road.
Loud cries mixed in with words trying to get help from the hospital's emergency department before Daehwi's phone was snatched by a nearby citizen who helped him talk to the other end of the line because he was now unable to speak. Able to communicate
“Merry Christmas
Yes,” Daehwi said as the night's ceremony was completed as people spoke to each other on the night of Christmas. This made Daehwi feel even more depressed than before.
While scanning the atmosphere around him, the boy stopped and stared at the person sitting in the same row on the other side of the bench. He slowly got up and looked like he was about to walk out of the place. Daehwi turned. face back to look at the front Before turning to look at the exit door again, the person was now about to step through.
Daehwi storms out of the pew and follows the man out of the church, but the scene in front of him is blank. Daehwi couldn't hold back the feelings he had been holding back.
I'm just blindsided.
Daehwi slowly raised his arms and hugged himself before bowing his head. Stand and cry until your body shakes. quietly alone
“Uncle, please come back to me.. I love you. Did you hear that I love you..."
The boy raised his hand to wipe away the tears on his cheek as his phone vibrated because of an incoming call. Daehwi swallowed back a sob and tried to adjust his voice to normal.
“Yes, Minhyun hyung…” Daehwi fell silent when the person speaking on the other end of the line was not his senior.
"hello.. Yes, Daehwi is speaking…”
The initial nervous feeling changed when the other end of the line explained the reason why Daehwi would have to return to the hospital.
“Yes, Mother, I will be there as quickly as possible.. Yes, thank you very much.”
When he hung up the phone, Daehwi was still confused as to whether what had happened was true or not, but no matter how many times he pinched his arm, he still had the feeling.
Daehwi turned back to the church gate once more with a smile on his face and tears streaming down his face before rushing out of the place to return to the place he had just visited. Came in the early evening
Thank you God for giving me happiness again.
