Ray stood stiffly behind the bar counter. Her shoulder-length hair was tied into three round buns in a strange style that made her easily recognizable by many people. Ray intended it that way, she wanted it that way. Because what she fears most is being forgotten. If they didn't recognize her, she would no longer exist in this world.
A slender hand picked up a martini glass and wiped it until it was shiny in the light. When he saw that it was as clear as the air, he smiled with satisfaction. Put it in the cabinet and pick up a new one. Just in time with the sound of the tall chairs at the bar in front being moved away. The tall man sat down slowly. He placed a black leather bag that looked worth more than her salary on the chair next to her.
Oh my gosh, I'm still taller than you. Do you blame the chair for being too tall? Or is it that the height doesn't even reach your standard?
“What can I get you?” she asked, having never seen his face before.
He was silent, his dark eyes staring at her without hiding. His eyes swept over his face before moving to look at the three plugs on his head. His eyes were not critical. Have a question or are surprised?
Just look
Rei felt the heat spread across her face for the first time and she wanted to unwrap her hair and let it go right here.
What are you looking at? Or still can't figure it out, so she'll give you a suggestion.
“A sidecar would be good for a day of tiring--”
“Manhattan”
"Okay." She immediately got to work.
Kylo Ren followed every action of the woman in front of him. From scooping ice to pouring rye whiskey Open the vermouth cap. Thinking back to his conversation with a close friend that evening.
'You must really like the bar I went to, Kyle.'
'No thank you', he rejected his friend without thinking.
'Wait, listen first.'
'You know Hux, I don't like--'
'I know, check it out before ordering your favorite Manhattan. You won't be disappointed.' His friend gave him a confident look that was annoying.
'Fine, but what if I'm disappointed?'
'I'll give you the liquor at your regular shop, but on the other hand, If you go to that store a second time Treat me,' he said, raising his eyebrows in challenge.
'Deal'
'Deal'
The conversation ended with them shaking hands and making a promise.
Kylo checked it through his mind when he saw the whiskey bottle. He preferred traditional rye whiskey over bourbon, even though it was hard to find shops that used rye whiskey these days.
Oh, is it possible to be a psychopath while staring?
Rei cursed under her breath as her hands trembled visibly. Who had this Etani sit and stare? People tensed up. I knew that he really wasn't staring at her. But looking at the steps she made the drink for him, he couldn't help but feel nervous.
She closed the lid of the shaker and shook it, and suddenly the owner of the eyes that had been staring at her the whole time let out a soft breath. Ray looked up and saw the same calm face as before, but with a hint of disappointment evident in him. He left. My eyes are gone. Pick up your smartphone I don't care about you anymore.
Feeling upset, the woman strained the liquid into an ice-cold martini glass that she had just wiped clear, hoping to make up for some of his displeasure. She garnished it with a cherry. placed in front of the young man He flicked his gaze.
But I don't care.
Rey frowned, starting to feel annoyed that she hadn't done anything wrong. She opened her mouth to ask him directly but was interrupted by a new customer sitting at the bar table next to Kylo. The woman put her frustration aside and went about her work. again
Kylo laughed low in his throat, such a childish laugh. Frowning, she makes a drink for a new customer who is probably upset that he won't even touch her Manhattan. Honestly, Kylo thought he was getting free booze since she put the shaker in his hand.
But now I'm starting to be unsure.
“Excuse me, are you dissatisfied with my drink-making skills?”
Rey said after she had been free for a while and there was still no sign of Kylo touching it.
“Yes,” a deep voice answered. Put your mobile phone on the table.
The girl was taken aback. She wasn't sure if it was an answer or an answer to her question.
“Drinking it in the evening is the best.” He looked at his poor Manhattan.
“Whenever you drink it, it doesn't taste good either.”
Ray's eyebrows twitched. Pursing your lips in a straight line, you felt your head begin to heat with anger. Meanwhile, Kylo's mouth curled into a smile that made her heart skip a beat.
“What did I do wrong?” he said curtly, dissatisfied.
The young man stood up to his full height and extended his hand towards the bar where Rei was standing.
"excuse me"
Rey raised his head, crossed his arms over his chest, looked away, and nodded reluctantly. When he saw the other person's permission, he walked behind the bar and rolled up the sleeves of his gray shirt twice, giving the woman a nudge that gave Kylo something to do. convenient But he was still next to her in a distance where she could see his every expression.
Kylo took her shaker and washed it first.
“Part-time,” a deep voice said as a question.
“Full-Time” didn't understand why the other person wanted to know but he answered politely.
The young man stopped his hand and turned to look at her slightly. She didn't look away. before he turned around and flicked the water out of the stainless steel canister. It was a good thing he turned around because Ray couldn't bear those dark eyes for long.
“You don't live around here,” Ray started to ask, glancing at the side of his face, alternating with his thick hand scooping ice into a shaker.
"yes"
“Do you want to change the atmosphere?”
“A friend forced me to come.” As soon as he finished speaking, he saw the young woman looking left, right, front and back until the top of her head was shaking.
"I don't see anyone forcing you to come. If you don't come, your friends won't know."
“With a little bet,” he continued to clarify.
“What bet?” Rei just realized that she was prying into something like this and answered. He flicked his eyes to look at her. Normally, she didn't talk much with customers. But when I saw that the person who looked cold Formidable, keeping a straight face Speaking in a monotone voice, he had an angle like a normal person like her. She unconsciously wanted to know about him.
“I remember,” he said.
"that"
"That it's none of your business."
“I'm sorry,” she replied loudly, crossing her arms over her chest again.
“Huh.”
He laughed deep in his throat so she could hear the girl pouting like a child. Watch as he pours each ingredient into it.
“How is this different from what I do?” she said, her voice shaking slightly.
Kylo didn't answer. But I picked up a bar spoon and raised it to show in front of her. Before using it, stir everything in the shaker. When it was ready, he strained the reddish-brown liquid into a new, ice-cold corktail glass and topped it with a short wooden skewer and inserted a cherry. There were no bubbles floating on top like hers had.
“It tastes exactly the same,” she said, still tall, sliding the corktail glass towards her.
“I pay myself.”
When the other party speaks She didn't object, and was about to reach for the glass when Kylo slid it away. He substituted the glass she made for him.
“Try your own skills first.” Rei rolled her eyes. Surely she must have tasted everything herself. And she's sure it's not bad, not even close, but she'll compare it to the end like this man wants.
“How is it?” he asked.
“Wonderful,” she replied irritably.
“Enough to eat,” he corrected. Ray stared at him bloodthirstyly.
“Try this this time.”
The young man handed his own glass to her. He didn't even taste his own, showing that he was very confident in his skills. Or he did it so often that his skills became stable and Ray gradually tasted the other person's Manhattan. She felt a taste that was much richer, clearer, and deeper than her own. And most importantly, it was noticeably more delicious than hers. Her expression probably explains every thought.
“How is it? Different, right?”
“Okay,” she said, setting the glass on the table, even though she wanted to taste a little more.
“Did you go to school? Before you come do this?” he asked, leaning his hips against the counter.
“Not much. The old bartender here taught me a few things, but I mostly just looked. Remember and practice it yourself.”
“She needs a teacher.”
He raised the corners of his mouth again, not knowing whether to smile or sneer.
“Of course it's not you,” he said.
“Of course not. I prefer to be a drinker.”
“Even though I made a mistake on this one, I'm sure I'll do a good job otherwise,” she said, regaining her dignity.
“I believe you.” Suddenly, Rei's heart pounded again as he firmly said those words as his eyes met hers.
“But that man is leaving.”
The woman looked in the direction Kylo had nodded to. The man at the bar who had been sitting next to Kylo had disappeared. She saw the man behind him near the door, about to leave without paying a single penny.
“You bastard,” she cursed before running out of the bar, shouting the name of her friend who was guarding the front of the bar.
“My phone too. Mr. Bartender.”
Kylo shouted behind him amusedly, still leaning on the counter inside. Turn your back on the chaotic events Picking up his own Manhattan that Ray had placed and taking a sip, the man used the time he was talking to Ray to secretly put away his phone and even drew his sword.
He only has one phone and can afford to buy a new one.
But this young woman had to take out her own money to pay for the alcohol instead. which she must be upset about
After a moment, Ray walked back to him and handed him back the newest smartphone.
“This is your phone…” she trailed off. Raised eyebrows in question
“Kylo”
"I'm Ray." The small figure paused, gasping for breath.
He smiled faintly at the natural expression when Rei turned to meet the other person's smile. His face turned white with embarrassment and he raised his hand to scratch his nose, hoping to hide his hot face.
She was just tired and her face was red.
"Do you want anything else to drink? I'll treat you."
“You choose for me.”
Kylo returned to his seat and texted his best friend with his smartphone before never touching it again. His dark eyes stared at the brightness in front of him without turning away all night.
