The clock struck 2:30 a.m. when Charlie woke up to the sound of a loud thud below. His instincts made him pull the nightstand drawer and grab the small gun inside. He turned on the surrounding lights and decided to walk over and press the bedroom knob to send some signal. After a loud clinking sound, Charlie heard the footsteps of people, but how many there were, he couldn't guess.
Charlie started to regain his composure, since he was alone in the house, if there were more than one of them, he might slip up. Finally, when he heard nothing, he opened the bedroom door.
Charlie pressed the light switch at the corner of the stairs to light the way downstairs, still holding the small gun firmly in his hand, he pressed himself against the wall of the house and slowly climbed down. He stopped at the bottom of the stairs when he brandished his rifle around and found that on the floor near the dining table, there was a patch of sand with the footprints of a person on it. He followed the sand to a small bathroom and looked up to see that the window had been pushed wide, indicating a way for it to escape.
Charlie searched for a phone number and it took him a while for the village security guard to come and inquire about the situation before he went to survey the area around the yard and found a notebook that he couldn't take. Decided to leave it under the Mokkha tree by the fence.
The next morning, the village president and two security guards came to observe and concluded that it had come from an abandoned house that the previous owner had seized from a bank two years ago. Charlie wasn't very close. When you see each other, if you can't avoid it, just smile instead of greeting. On the surface, Charlie is the outstanding manager of a hotel that was voted the country's best hotel for his warm hospitality, but behind the scenes he is very bored with meeting people.
So he did not associate with anyone in this village. Neighbors on both sides greet each other when they bump into each other and avoid each other. Even Charlie's housekeeper was hired on a round-trip basis on Saturdays and Sundays, so he didn't have to come to work until he almost forgot what he looked like.
When that house turned into an abandoned house, Charlie was truly happy for him. until....
“I heard from the village president that that abandoned house has already been bought by someone from the bank, right? Do you know when he will come in?”
This female legal entity officer looked at Charlie with surprise. When he informed her that she was the owner of the house that had been stolen two days ago, it was the first time she had seen him since she had been working in the village for nearly five years.
"My name is friend. I live abroad. You're also looking for someone to rent. Here, let me look at it."
"Do you have any announcement from him? I'll help you find another tenant."
The same official, Kulikuchaw, brought the details he had kept to Charlie. She immediately saw an opportunity for a small commission.
"Here, I'm looking for a place to stay, but the economy is very difficult these days."
Charlie looked at the message he announced. The rent is a bit expensive but that's okay. He knows some foreign guests who need a place to stay while working in Thailand. Their currency is big enough to pay.
After no more than three days, Charlie gained a new neighbor through his own abilities. Even though you want privacy while staying at home without having to smile and greet people, if people have to become what is called a criminal and they may become the accused. Charlie would have to endure being with another person. The abandoned house would not be a paradise for him alone, but it would also be a paradise for thieves.
Not long after, Charlie received a small thank you card from a friend who owned an abandoned house through a legal entity.
“Please receive my gratitude. If there is a chance, we will meet again sometime. Thank you again for being involved this time."
Charlie doesn't care what his friends think. Only he himself knew the reason for his actions. He used to be bored with people, but now he wanted people more than thieves. If he were to wait for his friend to come stay with him, he would probably be in a cell before he saw the man named Comrade.
