The story of newly ordained monks who come to live in a rural temple. But what's special is that this monk sees things that other people don't see. The story then becomes involved with what we all call "ghosts".
Record of someone seeing a ghost
The last sunlight is about to set on the horizon. The red sun that once shone brightly in this hemisphere It's about to shine on another side of the world. The gentle wind blows gently towards the Tha Nam Pavilion at Bang Phayom Yai Temple. A figure sat quietly leaning against a bench in the pavilion. Facing the canal
Today's canal is not like before. From where there were only boats and rowboats It turned into a long-tailed boat with a loud, ear-splitting sound. Racing along the canal Sometimes they passed each other and almost collided with each other. The houses along the canal became denser. Only in front of the temple can you see a large rice field. Because it is a village property that has no plans to transform it into anything other than rice farming. But this season is the dry season, so you can see only dry brown rice fields as far as the eye can see.
“Uncle Phuk Phuk,” the voice of a temple boy called from far away. until waking up from reverie The person sitting in the pavilion was actually a middle-aged man and was turning towards the owner of the voice, a boy of about ten years old.
"Grandfather asked me to follow you, Uncle."
"What's the matter, Anon?"
"I don't know." The boy shook his head. Before continuing, “Luang Pu asked Uncle to wait in the monastery. You'll finish your evening prayers now."
Uncle Puk grabbed the loincloth that was on the bench and put it on his shoulder and stood up. It's starting to get dark around. But there is light from the lamp posts in the temple periodically. On the way to the monastery, a young boy, who was the youngest temple student, asked.
"Uncle, come sit on the waterfront alone in the dark. Aren't you afraid?"
The middle-aged man chuckled.
“Why are you afraid? I have lived in this area since I was little. I don't see anything.”
The buxom man wrinkled his neck but thought it would be better not to mention it. He walked quickly until he came to a small residence of Luang Pu that was planted not far away.
Luang Pu's residence was built from wood and zinc. Condition: old middle, new middle, high basement At the foot of the stairs was a brown Thai dog crouching. As soon as he recognized that the familiar person came, he ran over and caressed her legs in a flattering way, crying out loudly.
The buddha agilely climbed the stairs and turned on the light switch next to the door. Uncle Phuk followed him and sat cross-legged, waiting for Luang Pu on the patio. Soon enough, Luang Pu returned.
“Oh… have you come and waited?” Luang Pu, an old monk around seventy years of age, greeted. Then he went up the stairs and sat on the only wooden chair.
Grandfather looked at Uncle Puk's face and then at Chao Aun's face before speaking.
“This is it….Tomorrow there will be a new monk at our temple. I'd like Yomphuk to go clean the cubicle next to me. If there's anything left, come and tell me."
Chao Aun was startled. When I heard the word "kuti next to me" But Uncle Phuk made a neutral face before accepting.
“Yes.”
“But that cloister…..” Zhao Aun made to speak but his voice got stuck in his throat. Then he turned and looked into the darkness.
“There was only one vacant cubicle. Or are you going to have the new monk live in the same monastery as Luang Pu? And let you go there, Aun?” Uncle Puk turned to the boy and asked.
“You hired me and you didn't go. Living in the same monastery as Luang Pu, it's very warm."
"Oh my...you idiot," said Uncle Phuk. Grandpa laughed softly.
"That's enough. Alright, Father Puk, go back and come early tomorrow."
Uncle Phuk accepted his words before saying goodbye to Luang Pu and returning to his home next to the temple.
The next day, Uncle Phuk came to the temple early to clean the hut. The soft rays of dawn began to appear in the sky. Luang Pu and other monks went out to collect alms and have not returned yet. As he walked past the side of the church, the wind blew the bodhi leaves, making a loud noise that gave him goosebumps.
The cubicle that will be cleaned It is not far from Luang Pu's residence. But it has been closed for many years. The door isn't locked. As soon as the door was opened, dust particles flew up. A few geckos clung to the side of the wall. When he realized someone was coming in, he climbed up and fled up into the rafters. There was only one room in this cubicle and there was nothing but dirt and dust.
By the time I finished sweeping and mopping, it was already too late. The old man ran away and looked at him from a distance while shouting.
“Are you finished yet, uncle? A new monk has arrived."
"Oh, it's just finished." Uncle Aun took a loincloth and wiped the sweat from his cheeks. "Are you with Luang Phor?"
No need to wait for an answer. Uncle Phuk followed Chao Aun closely.
The new monk's name is Phra Sathaporn. Chao Aun called Luang Phi Tha. Luang Phi Tha has been ordained for two years. Originally lived at a temple in Suphan Buri Province. He came here on the advice of his master who was a friend of Luang Pu. After finishing worshiping Luang Pu Uncle Phuk and Chao Aun took him to the monastery.
That night was the waning moon. There aren't any stars in the sky. Luang Phi Sathaporn went up to his monastery and meditated as he usually did before going to bed. The atmosphere outside was quiet, with only the sound of wreaths ringing out from time to time.
About an hour had passed. Luang Phi Sathaporn went to bed. It's not time to sleep well. I heard footsteps outside the cubicle. It was the sound of softly stepping on dry leaves. Then there was a hoarse cry.
"Luang Phi, Luang Phi"
Strangely, the cubicle doors and windows were closed. But Luang Phi Sathaporn saw that under the tree next to the cloister appeared the body of a novice monk. But the face is not clear Standing still but showing no signs of coming near the cubicle in any way.
“November, go back. I will spread kindness and dedicate merit to you.”
As if aware, the novice's figure slowly disappeared.
The peaceful existence of Phra Mai is very surprising to Uncle Phuk and Chao Aun. Who knows that there used to be a novice monk who died? But Phra Sathaporn never showed anyone that. Have you ever encountered something that other people haven't seen?
In fact, Phra Sathapon often saw spirits come and ask for some merit. Come and ask for some help. He helped pray and spread kindness as much as he could.
For example, when there is a funeral at Luang Phi Temple, you will see both the host and the guests. And the host who was in the coffin also came out to sit and listen to the monks chant. In conclusion, Luang Phi Sathaporn can be considered a talented person that no one wants to imitate.
Uncle Phuk and Chao Aun When he saw that Phra Sathaporn was living in the hut without anything happening. As the days passed, these two people lost their fear. To the point where at night he came to sleep as a friend of the Buddha. If these two people knew that something was going on, they would come and ask for merit from the monks every night. Probably wouldn't dare come again.
