Part Begin Trip '
Ah...how do I start? (laughs)
First of all, I must introduce myself to this book.
I'm Lee Sungmin. I've been 27 for two months now. Right now I'm not at home and...I'm happy. I am a traveler If you ask me what I do with this career, the answer is simple.
"travel"
That's right, I'm traveling around the world. Of course, traveling involves spending money. I supported myself by taking photos while traveling to make travel postcards, with a close friend of mine also taking over the work.
I bought this notebook from a 50-year-old uncle in a small alley. I didn't want him to feel bad, so I bought it. I like it. I thought it was a souvenir from Italy. Its format is not complicated at all. Peel off the packing and you'll find a soft-colored page, or if you'd rather call it line-free eye-care paper.
Let me tell you, you will find that this world is becoming more convenient for your life. You don't need to withdraw large amounts of cash from your account. To increase the risk of being robbed by a bus driver or a man in a corner of a building, just having a debit card will make your life more convenient. Ah...I'm not selling anything (laughs). I'm just saying that it's suitable for my trip.
Actually...this is the first time I started traveling in my life and the first place I chose was "Italy", the country that I had dreamed of since I was 13 years old. The reason is that Italy has a charm in the way of culture that it is. The oldness of the houses fascinates me. Even if the color of the bricks used for building looks dull or damaged and has received very little maintenance.
Many interesting civilizations arose here. And what makes Italy most interesting is Rome, where ancient ruins were built, one of the 7 wonders of the world. A huge stadium that can hold up to 50,000 people, the Leaning Pisa building that I've always questioned: Why doesn't it just fall?
Or the dream city for couples, Venice, the city of water.
Each day I spend almost 12 hours traveling and taking photos of old buildings. It was built with red bricks, narrow streets, small alleys. After noon, we stopped at a coffee shop in that area. Amazingly, after just a short trip I seemed to lose weight. I'm not fat. (Makes a serious face) It's because I only drank coffee and a piece of cake and continued on my trip. Returning to the accommodation, I was tired, showered, went to bed and ate dinner, but didn't even touch it.
I don't have a regular coffee shop, but this is the fourth time? I walked past this shop and came in to sit and sip coffee for lunch. I sat and watched the traffic of cars through the clear glass that had been neatly wiped. In fact, Italy places quite a lot of emphasis on cleanliness.
If you don't believe it...
Try making the paper wrapped in chewing gum fall to the floor (smiles).
“Black coffee and mocha cheesecake have arrived.”
The young waiter's words about the menu I had ordered made me look up from the notebook I was writing in my hand. It's an automatic reaction if you're writing a secret or personal matter that you don't want anyone to know and someone sees your hand and immediately closes the notebook.
But what makes you think is that he spoke to me in Korean?
“Sorry, I didn't mean to look at your notebook.” The handsome young waiter apologized politely. He smiled slightly and humbly served the coffee and cake on the tray.
“Ah...I didn't say anything to you. But how do you know I'm Korean?”
The handsome waiter smiled and laughed a little. Does his young face look too handsome for a hired worker? Looks like a charming person Compared to me, he was probably only in his early 20s.
“I saw you writing in Korean in a notebook so I greeted you in Korean. Nice to see you again. I saw that you were probably a tourist, but by chance you'd been here many times, I remembered you.”
The young waiter answered my questions politely. I replied with a friendly smile. Yes, it is not easy to meet people of the same nationality abroad.
“I must excuse myself first. If my uncle saw me talking to a customer, he would probably get scolded. Ah...please enjoy yourselves.” He bowed to me before walking behind the bar counter.
That was the first time I met that young man. I sat and looked at the pictures from my good camera for fun. before billing I'm a little surprised The employee who came to collect the money didn't use that young man. I looked for him but couldn't find him. It's possible that he was behind the store or...maybe he had gone home?
It's strange. Why did I think of him? (laughs) And I don't know if it was a coincidence or not. After I was crossing the street, I met that young man again.
“You…” The young man laughed. “See you again.”
“Yes.” I smiled friendly.
“So...where are you going? Interested in getting a tour guide? I don't charge any money.”
The young man made an interesting offer to me and I accepted. Not because I don't have to pay, but I think having friends along the way People who should know the area well It should give me more information that I need.
He took me for a walk in many places. Some places I have never been to and some I have passed through. He introduced the place without any glitches. His eloquence gave me the impression that he must know the place very well. Every question I posed, he was able to answer in an interesting way. I was right to let him help me as a guide.
“Would you like to sit and rest first? We've walked a lot,” the young man invited me as his eyes looked at the other nine trees not far away.
“That's good too.”
We walked and sat down to rest after walking for a bit...well. I think it's many kilometers.
“We should get to know each other. After walking for so long, I still don't know your name,” the young man said. I put the water bottle I just drank into my bag.
“My name is Lee Sungmin, what about you?”
“...Kyuhyun, Jo Kyuhyun.”
I nodded slightly with Kyuhyun's name in the memory.
“May I ask? Why are you traveling to Italy?”
“I have dreamed of traveling since I was a child. I like everything Italian. But it's not that I don't like Korea. I just felt it was very new and impressive.”
“So how long will you stay?”
“Um...Actually, I plan to stay for a week and then continue traveling.”
“Continue your journey? Are you saying that you are one of the people who will travel around the world!?”
Kyuhyun's question made me laugh. Because the young man's excited face looked very funny.
“Hahaha, not really. This is just the beginning.”
I sat there and talked with Kyuhyun until the sun disappeared from the sky. I would feel bad if I bothered Kyuhyun without getting anything in return. So I invited him to babysit me in return for the many tiring hours. At first he refused but when I told him I felt bad he agreed to come along.
Ah...he's very polite and gentle.
oh! The restaurant I took him to ate at was quite a famous one. This meal allowed us to get to know each other better. I told him about my travel plans and exchanged stories about Kyuhyun.
I learned that Kyuhyun is 21 years old and now lives with his uncle. He is a half-breed. Which looks like his face is more Asian than Western. Well...his father is Italian-Korean. His mother is actually Korean. They lived together in Italy until Kyuhyun was born, then moved to Korea and... something happened (
Kyuhyun didn't tell) causing Kyuhyun to return to Italy. He only said that he came back to Italy to rest his heart. At first I thought he was fighting with his girlfriend but Kyuhyun said that wasn't the case.
I didn't want to intrude, so I didn't ask much. As for his work serving coffee at the shop, at first I thought he was an employee. The shop owner's grandson I feel like his uncle's name is Altoni.
Honestly, I didn't mention that Kyuhyun has been back in Italy for 3 years now. It seems a bit reckless to leave home to relax at the age of 18!
I asked him: “Three years in and you still haven't had enough rest?” he answered me. “My heart is tired.”
Uh....hahahaha This kid is really sure, I think.
After finishing dinner We made an appointment to travel to the Vatican, the center of Christianity, together tomorrow. Because Kyuhyun told me that the coffee shop would be closed tomorrow, I agreed. Well..I feel sorry for Kyuhyun too if he has to give up his job even though he's a grandchild.
After we separated and returned to the hotel, I took a shower and then sat down to write in my journal. Now it's...8 p.m. and forty-five minutes. I should go to bed and get ready for tomorrow's trip.
Good night, dear recorder...
