Park Jinyoung x Choi Youngjae

--The smell of dirt, the smell of rain, and people who don't love you--

(C) ELIZILE

Raindrops fell on the terrace of the house in a rhythmic pattern. Jinyoung turned the pages of the book, his eyes scanning over each letter and word in silence. Inhale the earthy scent that rises up and hits your nose. The large sliding door was opened to allow the cool air and happiness to spread into the house.

Narrow eyes glanced at the young man sleeping on the wooden floor next to him. A cushion taken from the long sofa was placed to support the round head. Soft brown hair rests on white cheeks. You were lying on your side, slightly hunched over from the cold air. The viewer couldn't help but smile with affection.

Choi Young Jae insists that he keep the door open even if raindrops splash into the house. Even though Jinyoung didn't like the rain that much, he complied.

I can't help but think about how hard people must fight. One person chooses to flee from another person and go to the other side of the country. The puffy state of his eyes when he picked up Youngjae from the bus terminal was still etched in his mind. He asked the same question three times before his cousin finally admitted that he had fought with his girlfriend.

Jinyoung couldn't believe that sentence. 'I only have you' used as an answer when asking why I had to come here is 100% true. At least there must be a strange reason in Youngjae's style. And he was going to have fun searching for the answer in just a few days before the owner of the still body beside him had to return because the university started the spring semester.

A thin figure leaned against the kitchen door frame, looking at his cousin helping his mother make kimchi. He who was kicked out stood still and became a rotten dog here because his mother's beloved grandson was so diligent and begging for help. But there wasn't enough space in the kitchen for everyone to squeeze in. Park Jin Young, who was his biological son, was kicked out just like that.

Jinyoung pretended to purse his lips at the owner of his sweet face, who turned to wink and smile widely at him. Even when I was in the midst of suffering from a love that wasn't what I wanted. Youngjae was still able to cover up his sadness almost completely, if it weren't for the fact that his swollen eyes weren't caused by going to bed late at all.

At night, even though he sleeps with his back turned, those thin shoulders tremble violently from holding back sobs. Why wouldn't he know? And it got even worse when he grabbed his trembling body and hugged him. He went from sobbing to sobbing until his t-shirt around his chest was wet.

Jinyoung hates the owner of those fierce eyes. The person he thought was Youngjae's boyfriend because he secretly saw that the phone screen was set to a couple photo. How could his younger sibling cry like this? It's unbelievable that a child like Choi Young Jae, who even when falling and scraping his knee and bleeding, still wouldn't cry once, would be so weak over something as trivial as love.

They put their bikes away after riding out to see the sea in the afternoon. Youngjae seemed to brighten up, instead he stood staring at the still sea. I don't know exactly what I'm thinking. But when he saw this child smiling faintly at the small crabs walking on the beach, he felt relieved. When he saw that the sky was overcast, he invited him to return. Before the sky pours down heavy rain to make it soaked.

“Why are you always reading?”

Youngjae asked him one afternoon. Because it was raining they couldn't go out. His cousin picked up a newspaper and read it to pass the time. This kid didn't care in the slightest that he was sitting so close to the door. If too many raindrops splashed on his body he would catch a cold. When he got a bit scolded, he gently said that if he was sick, there would still be someone to take care of him.

He was so sure that he was repulsed, but what he said was completely true. He wouldn't let him lie sick anyway.

"I don't like watching TV."

“Read to me,” the younger man folded the newspaper that was spread out on the floor and put it away. Turned around and made my eyes twinkle. Is there something he won't give in? Anyone who saw this child's face when he was begging would have to give up. No matter how hard your heart is,

“Come near here.”

Jinyoung was a bit surprised when Youngjae snuggled into his chest. So close that he could smell the distinctive scent of the slender owner. Soft hair spread between his neck and chin. He picked up the book again. Open the bookmarked page. Then read aloud one sentence at a time to the person in your arms as requested.

Even though Jinyoung felt that they were too close to be shy about skinship. It wasn't that he had never hugged Youngjae like this. Even though I think that I used to do this often when I was a kid. But Jinyoung's heart was beating abnormally fast.

“Jinyoung unnie is always kind. Are you still as stubborn as you were in high school?” Youngjae asked as he sat still and asked him to wipe his hands with a cloth soaked in warm water. They went out to pull out the weeds that grew in the small vegetable garden behind the house, even though they used shovels to dig up the small plants that were already overgrown. Youngjae still complains of pain. and raised his hand that had red marks on it for him to see.

He didn't know if the towel and warm water could actually soothe the pain or not. He thought to himself that at least it would make those small hands a bit more comfortable.

“I'm not as popular as I used to be. Now I don't have a boyfriend at all.”

Jinyoung answered, looking up at the younger man. Give me a small smile He had just broken up with his last girlfriend earlier this winter. He had gone through his worst period. But loneliness and nostalgia still gnawed at his heart from time to time. Different attitudes can't take a relationship very far. Even though everyone was jealous that they seemed so suitable for each other.

“Are you lonely?”

“You can ask.” He just laughed and asked back. “Are you lonely now?”

Youngjae was silent for a moment. His sweet face looked very sad. The look of raising one's head and trying to hold back tears should be a good substitute for the answer to the question from just a moment ago.

“Excuse me.” A slender hand placed a hand on the younger man's head, gently rocking it back and forth. I feel sorry that he wasn't very good at comforting the hearts of those who were hurt. But he promises that every minute that we're together now, he won't let his younger sibling be lonely. Just like now, he stopped thinking about the past because Youngjae was beside him.

"But I won't let you be more lonely than me."

They invited each other to come take a walk on the mountain near their house. The cool breeze and sea view must have made Youngjae homesick. The hand that keeps picking up the phone to see if anyone's calling. Let him know that more than missing home, he misses someone who lives there.

Jinyoung chose to lead them down the mountain. The steps were small but steep, causing the young men following them to slow down. while complaining breathlessly about how they had gotten up there.

A slender hand reached out and grabbed a soft hand and held it tightly. Because he was more used to going downhill. The lichen that clings to the steps makes for even more caution. They were able to find things to talk about until Jinyoung didn't want them to get home so quickly. He knew that soon Youngjae would have to go back to where he belongs.

They walked down almost to the end of the stairs. Youngjae, despite being extremely careful, still lost his footing. Jinyoung grabbed his slender body and held him steady. He chose to take the lead and lift Youngjae down to the same level on the ground. He laughed at the stunned expression the other person unconsciously displayed.

“Jinyoung hyung…don't treat me like a child.” The man in his arms complained at being treated like a child.

"I didn't think you were a child at all." A slender finger lifted up and spread softly on his cheek.

Jinyoung wanted to go back in time to the moment before he uttered his sentence. His cousin's expression changed. Small eyes flashed with confusion. I don't know what kind of eyes he uses to look at his younger sibling. Youngjae who understands things too easily I understand everything that he is hiding.

“I'm sorry.” A small hand pressed against his chest, forcing himself away, and that meant he had been rejected. This is correct.

"It's okay. Come back. It's getting late."

Park Jin Young told a big lie. Why would he be okay? I felt angry at myself for not thinking. And it made the atmosphere between him and Youngjae worse. He didn't want this. I didn't want Youngjae to know what he was thinking because he was just an older brother.

We choose to act like nothing happened after that. Youngjae says he's just lonely and shaken. He nodded in agreement, even though he didn't want to agree. It might be true like Youngjae said. He was just lonely and some of the things he craved happened to be inside Youngjae. The momentary trembling occurred only because of the proximity to the pleasant atmosphere of spring.

The sound of Youngjae's mobile phone ringing for the first time in days has passed. The young man quickly picked it up and looked to see if it was the person he was waiting for. He guessed it was, from hesitation and not answering until the call waiting sound rang for the third time.

“Take it.”

Youngjae turned to look at him once before deciding to answer the phone. A look of worry was evident on his face. He followed Youngjae as he walked out and sat on the terrace that extended into the garden. The young man talked on the phone for a long time.

Reconciling isn't as complicated as arguing. Youngjae tells him that he will be back. He told me to hurry back. Jinyoung doesn't have any special privileges to keep another person from staying a little longer. All you can do is volunteer to take you to the airport.

Jinyoung sneered at himself. If it were him who made the request, would Youngjae rush to come?

The figure took a deep breath and decided to erase all the feelings that had formed before they met again. If he had someone to depend on his heart for now, it would be as easy as thinking. But he could only think..

-arrived-

Slender hand turned the phone down and placed it on the floor after reading the message from the chat program. A selfie taken of himself that looks like he's with his girlfriend is attached. Jinyoung chose not to look at the big picture and make his heart ache even more.

It was as expected that when they reconciled, the only person who was in trouble would probably be himself. There is no one who has value when he is young. He knew exactly why that person didn't release Youngjae. If he had the right, he would probably hold back as well.

Youngjae is like rain. The cool weather made the dry land feel a bit wetter. But his wet heart was like the pages of a book that had accidentally been near the rain and were wrinkled with moisture. No matter what he did, they would never return to being perfectly smooth.
